RULES FOR PSI MONTHLY COMPETITION (DIGITAL)

General Rules

  1. The competition is open only for the members of The Photographic Society of India (PSI).
  2. Same or similar work previously exhibited/accepted in any PSI exhibition/competition (including monthly competition) shall not be accepted. Same or similar entry by a member shall not be accepted in any other section. Any entry/entries not conforming to this rule shall be disqualified and points earned by the member for such entry/entries shall be deducted suitably.
  3. Maximum 4 digital images (monochrome / colour) in each section viz. Monochrome/Colour should be submitted.
    Size - Horizontal maximum: 1920 pixels and Vertical maximum: 1080 pixels.
    File size maximum: 2 MB, DPI: 300.
    The digital images should be emailed on 1937psi@gmail.com so as to reach PSI on 5th day of every month by 8.00 pm.
    Any images received afterwards shall not be considered for competition. The result shall be declared by 10th day of every month.
  4. For Quarterly Thematic Competition (Digital), maximum 4 images (monochrome/colour) should be submitted.
  5. All the images used for final submission must be the original work of the member.
  6. The members should email their full name, membership number and the category viz. Member /Beginner, along with their images.
  7. The Jury’s discretion will be final and binding and also any prize, acceptance or award may be withheld at the Jury’s decision.
  8. Each successful entry will be given points as follows: 1st Prize - 5 pts, 2nd Prize - 3 pts, 3rd Prize - 2 pts, each Acceptance - 1 pt. ‘The Photographer of The Year’ in Members and Beginners section will be based on these cumulative points during the PHOTOGRAPHIC YEAR of PSI. In case of a tie between two photographers, due weightage will be given to the number of awards won by the PSI members in the monthly competition, during the PHOTOGRAPHIC YEAR of PSI.
  9. The calendar year for this competition will be from January to December.
  10. Members are assumed to have the necessary Model Release or Property Release or any other permission relating to the photograph(s) submitted for the competition. PSI or its managing committee accepts no liability or responsibility, whatsoever, in this regard.
  11. By virtue of submitting an entry, the member certifies the work as his own and permits PSI to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to competition/exhibition. This may include low resolution images posting on website.
  12. All reasonable care of the entries will be taken, but no responsibility will be assumed by PSI for any loss or damage to any of the entry or entries.
  13. Submission of entries by a competitor implies acceptance of all the Rules of the competition.
  14. All the submitted images before submission should have a TITLE as follows:
    a) Beginners Monochrome: Beg_M_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.
    Beginners Colour: Beg_C_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.
    b) Member Monochrome: Mem_M_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.
    Member Colour : Mem_C_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.

Beginners Monthly Competition (Digital)

  1. This competition is open for Beginners only.
  2. Any new member of PSI who has not completed one full calendar year of PSI  will be treated as a beginner. The calendar year of PSI begins on 1st  January and ends on 31st December. Further, provided that such a member:
    a) is not working as a professional photographer or employed as a photographer.
    b) is not holding any distinction or has not received any acceptance / award of any national or international photographic Salon/Organisation.
  3. The beginner can participate either in Members’ Monthly Competition or Beginners’ Monthly Competition, subject to Rule 2, a) and b) above, but not in both categories.
  4. There shall be two sections: 1) Monochrome and 2) Colour.
  5. The beginner should clearly mention the word ‘Beginner’ in the email while submitting images. (Maximum 4 images are allowed in each section).

Rules For Monthly Outing Competition (Digital)

  1. This competition is open only to members / beginners who have registered and participated in the PSI’s outing in the previous month. There shall be no separate category for a) Members and b) Beginners in the Monthly Outing Competition.
  2. The submitted images should be from the previous month’s PSI outing only.
  3. In the Outing section, the participants can submit their images in Monochrome or Colour.
  4. A maximum of four digital images, monochrome or colour should be submitted.
    Size: Horizontal - maximum: 1920 pixels and Vertical - maximum: 1080 pixels.
    File size maximum: 2 MB, DPI: 300.
  5. The digital images should be emailed on 1937psi@gmail.com so as to reach PSI on 5th day of every month by 8.00 pm. Any images received afterwards shall not be considered for competition. The result shall be declared by 10th day of every month.
  6. The images submitted must express the feeling of the place and portray its distinctive features or culture of a land as they are found naturally . Close up of people and objects must include distinguishable environment. No additional elements or objects e.g. sky, clouds, water should be added. No techniques that adds, relocates, replaces or removes the pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted.
  7. Each successful entry will be given points as follows: 1st Prize - 5 pts., 2nd Prize - 3 pts., 3rd Prize - 2 pts., each acceptance - 1 pt. ‘The Photographer of The Year- Outing’ will be based on these cumulative points during the PHOTOGRAPHIC YEAR of PSI. In case of a tie between two photographers, due weightage will be given to the number of awards won by the PSI members in the monthly competition, during the PHOTOGRAPHIC YEAR of PSI.

Quarterly Thematic Competition (Digital)

  1. There shall be separate sections for a) Members and b) Beginners.
  2. The members can submit maximum 4 images in Monochrome/Color.
  3. Points for the thematic competition will be considered for ‘The Photographer Of The Year’ awards.
  4. The images should be submitted in the following size:
    Horizontal maximum: 1920 pixels.
    Vertical maximum: 1080 pixels.
    File size maximum: 2 MB, DPI: 300
  5. The topic for the Thematic Competition will be announced by PSI in advance.
  6. All the submitted images before submission should have a TITLE as follows:
    a) Beginners Thematic: Beg_T_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.
    b) Members Thematic: Mem_T_Title_Name_Surname_Sr.No. of the image submitted.
